Cupra has ticked past 1000 orders for its electric Born, and plug-in hybrid Formentor and Leon in Australia.

The upstart Spanish brand has confirmed it has 700 orders for the Born electric hatch, which landed Down Under earlier this year, and 350 between the Leon and Formentor plug-in hybrids.

All told, Cupra says it’s taken more than 3000 orders since opening for business in Australia.

To date in 2023 it’s delivered 1227 cars; in 2022 it delivered a total of 1111.

The Formentor is its best-seller, with a combined 1443 deliveries since going on sale. It’s followed by the Ateca and Leon; to date 90 examples of the Born have been delivered.

Cupra says its order bank makes the Born the second-best seller in the range behind the Formentor.

The Born is the first mainstream electric vehicle from the Volkswagen Group to hit Australia, but more are coming.

Skoda has confirmed the Enyaq is bound for our shores, Volkswagen has a full range of ID. electric cars coming, and the Audi Q4 e-tron is also likely to come here.

Cupra has also confirmed the Tavascan electric car will come Down Under.
