BMW has revealed a range of ways for owners to make their new i5 electric sedans look more like an M5.

A range of M Performance Parts, including a long list of carbon fibre add-ons, will be offered from October in some markets.

The following carbon fibre parts will be available:

  • Front splitter
  • Rear diffuser
  • Rear spoiler
  • Side skirts

Stripes are offered for the top half of the car, while lower down buyers will be able to add matte grey side skirt films.

Not satisfied with the performance of your car’s aerial? A new aramid cover is on offer to give buyers “full functionality of the antenna in combination with a sporty look”.

Inside, there’s a range of M Performance floor mats and door sill finishers replete with the tri-colour M emblem.

Wheels ranging between 17- and 21 inches in diameter are available, along with a set of 20-inch front brakes designed to sit behind the optional 21-inch wheels.

The new BMW i5 will touch down in Australia during the fourth quarter of 2023.

The i5 eDrive40 features a single rear-mounted electric motor producing 250kW of power and up to 430Nm of torque with the Sport Boost or Launch Control function. It has a claimed 0-100km/h time of 6.0 seconds.

The i5 M60 xDrive has a dual-motor all-wheel drive powertrain producing 442kW of power and up to 820Nm of torque. It has a 0-100km/h time of 3.8 seconds.

Both i5 models use an 84kWh battery. WLTP range is 582km with the eDrive40 and 516km in the M60 xDrive.

They use a 400V electrical system and support three-phase AC charging up 22kW and DC fast charging up to 205kW.
