Move over, Mega Cruiser. Sayonara, Sequoia. Toyota has revealed a vehicle even larger than those, an electric van dwarfed by only the brand’s buses and heavy trucks.

The 2024 Toyota Proace Max is a new full-sized van for the European market and if it looks familiar, that’s because you’ve seen it before sans the Japanese brand’s logo.

It’s a rebadge of the van sold here as the Fiat Ducato and Peugeot Boxer, but also sold elsewhere as the Citroen Jumper/Relay, Ram ProMaster, and Opel/Vauxhall Movano.

Toyota touts a best-in-class cargo capacity figure – well, that would have to be equal best – of 17m3.

That indicates it’ll be offered with the longest body available in the other van ranges, putting overall length at 6363mm and height at 2760mm, with a 4035mm wheelbase.

That makes it the largest vehicle sold with a Toyota badge, short of buses like the Coaster and some heavy trucks.

Toyota has indicated it’ll be offered in other configurations, too, suggesting various lengths and roof heights.

It’ll be configurable as a cab-chassis, and is suitable for conversions such as one or three-way tipper and dropside beds.

As with its rebadged counterparts, the Proace Max offers electric power with up to 418km of WLTP range.

While detailed specifications have yet to be released, the recently revealed Peugeot E-Boxer update features a 110kWh battery pack good for up to 420km of range, a sizeable jump from the pre-update model’s 248km figure from a 75kWh battery.

The single electric motor produces 200kW of power and 400Nm of torque, up 109kW and 50Nm.

The Proace Max caps off Toyota’s European van line-up, which also comprises the Proace City (better known here as the Peugeot Partner) and the Proace (aka Peugeot Expert) instead of Toyota’s own vans like the HiAce.
