Volkswagen has added more safety equipment to the 2024 Polo line-up.

The mid-range Polo Style will gain blind-spot assist, rear cross-traffic alert, and proactive occupant protection – which tightens the seatbelts, closes the windows, and shuts the sunroof if it detects an imminent collision – as standard equipment.

The technology was removed from the Polo in September 2022 due to ongoing semiconductor shortages.

Also new for 2024 is the steering wheel in the range-topping Polo GTI. Volkswagen is ditching the fiddly capacitive buttons on the current steering wheel, and is replacing them with physical buttons.

The same change has been applied to the 2024 T-Roc R-Line SUV.

Volkswagen hasn’t detailed pricing for the 2024 range, but 2023 pricing is below.

  • 2023 Volkswagen Polo Life manual: $25,990
  • 2023 Volkswagen Polo Life DSG: $28,990
  • 2023 Volkswagen Polo Style DSG: $31,490
  • 2023 Volkswagen Polo GTI: $39,690

All prices exclude on-road costs.

To date in 2023, just 377 examples of the Polo hatch have been delivered in Australia.

It’s the second-slowest seller in the Volkswagen passenger car range ahead of the Passat Alltrack wagon, which is now in runout.
