Suzuki Australia has quietly introduced two new versions of its S-Cross compact SUV, with sharper drive-away pricing now applied across the range.

The pair of new models for the Australian market are front-wheel drive – the first time the new model has been available without AllGrip all-wheel drive – with prices now starting from $39,990 drive-away, which is quite a saving over the $40,490 before on-roads launch pricing.

The new S-Cross and S-Cross Plus variants effectively mirror the specification of the existing AllGrip and AllGrip Prestige sans all-wheel drive, though the Plus lacks the Prestige’s panoramic sunroof.

Pricing

  • 2024 Suzuki S-Cross: $39,990
  • 2024 Suzuki S-Cross AllGrip: $41,990
  • 2024 Suzuki S-Cross Plus: $42,490
  • 2024 Suzuki S-Cross AllGrip Prestige: $45,490

Prices are drive-away

Engines

All versions of the 2024 Suzuki S-Cross are powered by the company’s venerable 1.4-litre Boosterjet four-cylinder turbo petrol engine. Outputs are quoted at 103kW (5500rpm) and 220Nm (1500-4000rpm).

The turbocharged four is teamed with a six-speed automatic with paddle shifters as standard, with drive sent to the front wheels in S-Cross and S-Cross Plus models, while AllGrip versions get an on-demand all-wheel drive system with four modes.

Suzuki Australia has previously confirmed it would bring in the S-Cross Full Hybrid in 2024, which uses a 1.5-litre four-cylinder engine, a 140V lithium-ion battery and inverter, a motor generator unit, and 12V lithium-ion and lead-acid batteries. Quoted outputs are 85kW and 138Nm.

It’s mated with what Suzuki calls an Auto Gear Shift, a six-speed automated manual transmission. There’s no clutch pedal and the onboard computer picks the gears, but the system has to dip the clutch for you, engage the new gear and then carry on.

According to overseas specifications, it should save around 0.7L per 100km in combined driving compared to the petrol-only versions sold in Australia.

Efficiency

  • S-Cross FWD: 5.9L/100km
  • S-Cross AllGrip: 6.2L/100km

95 RON premium unleaded is recommended.

Dimensions

  • Length: 4305mm
  • Width: 1785mm
  • Height: 1585mm
  • Wheelbase: 2600mm
  • Ground Clearance: 175mm
  • Cargo Capacity: 430L-1230L

Servicing and Warranty

The S-Cross is covered by a five-year, unlimited-kilometre warranty – or 160,000km if the vehicle is used for commercial applications like goods transportation or rideshare.

Five years of roadside assistance is included with purchase, and up to five years of capped-price servicing.

Scheduled maintenance is required every 12 months or 10,000 kilometres – whichever comes first. Note the distance interval is shorter than the usual 15,000km industry standard.

Suzuki S-Cross service pricing:

  • 12mths/10,000km: $329
